Fostering Good Playing Relationships At The Poker Rooms

Many players consider the poker rooms a special place with its own customs and practices. Keeping these customs in mind will go a long way in building good playing relationships, so you would do well to become familiar with some of them. One of the most important unspoken rules in the poker rooms is to never criticize or try to “teach another poker player. Doing so may just force that player out of the poker room at best and at worst, put you in a bad light with the other players.

Also keep in mind that most players will probably not be interested in hearing about your poker room adventures, successful or otherwise. Most of them are there to do one thing and one thing only, and that is to play the game. They may be friendly and accommodating elsewhere but the poker rooms is probably not the best place to share your war stories.

Good Poker Room Practices

Proper poker room etiquette is essential in ensuring that the game is as enjoyable and as rewarding as possible for everyone concerned. One of the first rules to keep in mind is you shouldn’t throw your chips into the pot, and instead put them in a stack in front of you. This will allow the dealer to make sure that your bet is correct and also allow the other players in the poker room to see how much you are betting. It will be the poker room dealer’s responsibility to place the chips into the pot before he or she deals the next round.

You should also learn to look at your hold cards and memorize them at once. This will ensure that you proceed with the game smoothly and in a casual manner. This technique will also keep you from giving away any secrets to the other players in the poker room.
